Creative Energy in the Capital: Reflections from Create Now DC

Even on a rainy, chilly day in Washington, DC in May, the energy at Create Now was magnetic. I found a rare parking spot and stepped into a space full of warmth, creativity, and connection. Creatives of every kind—from designers and strategists to technologists and cultural storytellers—came out to learn, network, and build.
Adobe brought their A-game, from hands-on demos to powerful presentations, giving us fresh tools and insights to take our creative practice to the next level.
One standout voice was Charles “Ceej” Johnson, Creative Technologist and Founder of Vega Studio. I was intrigued by Ceej's work with Facebook where he developed Facial Messaging, a Spark AR effect inspired by the ACAT assistive technology which enables individuals to message using only facial movements. Through his story of growing up in Maryland, he reminded us to “dip into the bucket where you stand”—to tap into the resources, ideas, and power already within and around us. He challenged us to reflect inward, reminding us that all the answers start within.

Ceej’s framework was clear:
Native traits: What makes you you
Exploration: Discover what aligns (or doesn’t)
Skill sets: Extract, adapt, and apply what serves you
Together, they form your Creative DNA—the guide to your next steps.
He also left us with this gem: “In order to be bigger, you have to think bigger.” Whether it's in partnerships, platforms, or purpose—vision must lead.
At AllProfit HR, we help individuals and organizations do exactly that—reflect inward, build creative confidence, and scale with intention. Ready to align your people strategy with your creative power? Let’s build something bold together.
