Refusing to Be Wicked: How Women Rewrite Narratives

During a weekend date with my goddaughter, we watched Wicked: For Good together. And when I think about how far I've come as an entrepreneur and the dynamics of being a woman today, I see the parallels everywhere.
The narratives shaped about women—especially women of color—are no different than the story we watch unfold during our casual movie night. From the start, we're set up as "other." Too risky. Too emotional. Too much or not enough.
Just like Elphaba.
But here's what Wicked teaches us: there is no good or evil. There are only humans navigating systems designed to divide us.
The Counter-Cultural Work
When we slow down instead of hustling, we resist. When we build relationships instead of competing, we resist. When we approach conversations with curiosity instead of judgment, we resist. When we show up authentically instead of performing, we resist. When we celebrate each other, we resist.
This is deeply counter to a system that wants us moving fast, working alone, jumping to conclusions, seeking validation from others, and hiding who we truly are.
What This Has to Do With Human Resources
Many workplace dynamics play out exactly like the movies. We villainize the "difficult employee." We label the "disruptive leader." We pit departments against each other.
This fuels the work I do—providing conversations and principles that help colleagues and clients move past superficial engagement to lean into internal work. The work that allows us to show up presently in this interconnected life we're living.
Because everything IS interconnected. Family. Work. Life. Health—mental, emotional, physical, social. All of it. For women, this impacts our hearts greatly.
Reclaim. Build. Thrive.
This year, AllProfit HR celebrates eight years in business—a milestone, given that over 50% of businesses fold within five years.
On Sunday, March 8, 2026, during Women's History Month, we're hosting a different kind of celebration: a sisterhood shower where we're ALL the guests of honor.
No one person is celebrated. We all are. Collectively.
Think of it as unfolding instead of folding. Metamorphosis instead of collapse.
We're gathering women who are navigating transitional changes and crossroads, perimenopause, menopause, and the exhausting work of being whole. We'll have meaningful health conversations, joy to lighten your heart through trivia and prizes, food, and community. There will also be a women-owned business marketplace in celebration of Women's History Month.
Your attendance also supports Connect To Purpose's HR Accelerator—giving early-stage entrepreneurs the HR foundation they deserve but often can't afford.
You get to rewrite your narrative daily. You should. It's called evolution. And as women we will provide a village to celebrate, uplift and support one another.
I invite you to join us. There is more than enough space to reclaim, build, and thrive—together.
Register today before February 15 and save $10 using code Earlybird10 via allprofithr.com/events.
Cheers to breaking barriers and shattering narratives that do not serve us.
