Your Invitation To Embodied Sovereignty As A Leader

It is impossible to talk about changing organizations and their cultures without talking about changing ourselves and healing our wounds. - Gabriela Alcalde

If you're tired, research confirms it's not personal failure. It's systemic.

In a landmark study on women's fatigue, researchers found that 80% of women ranked persistent exhaustion among their top 10 health concerns. What did women attribute this to? Not depression or anxiety, though both emerged later. Women cited what social scientist Donna Stewart calls "social determinants": juggling work and home (63%), poor sleep (38%), lack of time for self (34%), financial worry (28%). The message is clear: women's fatigue is embedded in the structures we navigate daily.

Equally important, research by Laura Cox Dzurec identifies a critical link between fatigue and relatedness, or belonging, the sense of genuine connection. When women shift toward disconnectedness, a spiral begins: emotional absence, lack of motivation, depression-like symptoms. The inverse is equally true: relatedness mediates fatigue.

We know this intimately at AllProfit HR. For the past two years, since my own health scare, we've centered rest in our leadership work. And we've learned something vital: awareness without accountability doesn't shift behavior. You can read every book on rest, pleasure, and women's wellness. You can understand intellectually that your exhaustion is systemic, not personal. But without community, without a guide, without somatic practices grounded in the actual body, the knowing stays theoretical. The hamster wheel keeps spinning. And medical professionals can not prescribe exhaustion away.

That's why we're launching Embodied Sovereignty: Permission to Rest, a 7-month virtual series beginning this fall and culminating in an in-person gathering where you'll connect with women doing this work alongside you.

You're not alone in your journey. You have a monthly 90-minute container designed by Johnika Nixon, APHR's Organizational Development Facilitator and certified somatic sex coach, who specializes in creating non-judgmental spaces where women reclaim sovereignty over their bodies, pleasure, and rest. You gain access to a private community, accessible tools, and somatic practices that interrupt disconnectedness. You move from knowing you're tired to actively restoring yourself: mentally, spiritually, creatively, physically, emotionally, sensorily, and socially.

This isn't commiseration. This is collective resistance to the systems that benefit from your depletion.

As Gabriela Alcalde writes: "It is impossible to talk about changing organizations and their cultures without talking about changing ourselves and healing our wounds." Your wellbeing isn't optional.
