A Life Coach Journey to Fulfillment & Belonging
Updated: Feb 5
It takes someone with a vision of the possibilities to attain new levels of experience. Someone with the courage to live [their] dreams.
With so much going on (Hello Birthday), I neglected to share some fantastic news. I have been accepted into the next and last phase of my Co-Active Coaching Certification. Yay me!
Despite my ascension up to corporate ladder over the last two decades, as painstakingly described in a 2020 LeanIn.org study, I too have:
Experienced discrimination at work,
Successes that were discounted,
Experienced questioning and/or judgment regarding my ideas or competence, and
Been underrepresented in leadership roles.
Talk about exuding the courage to live out one's dreams. After not-so-great workplace experiences, and this is from the person who led Human Resources, a mentor encouraged me to be the change and create the change I wanted to see in our organizations.
Because of my own desires for fulfillment and belonging, I took that challenge as a reminder of my call to serve. I have shared before that I am an accidental entrepreneur. I always knew I had a passion early on in my career for creating equitable environments where people could be their best selves. Not too long after launching AllProfitHR, I began strategically envisioning how I could contribute to more systemic and permeable evolution at the roots of our organizational systems and small businesses. Despite the hierarchy of the organization or the many levels, the roots of the organization remain to begin and end with the people.
In this blog post, I share my call to define, evolve and inspire the development of the people - the organizational human capital - through the life coaching services AllProfitHR now offers.
A call to serve
At a very early age, I realized my purpose is to uplift, inspire, encourage, and support others to be their best selves. My soul is revived each time I have the privilege to pour into people and help them see they can choose their life. I recently heard a quote, “we have the power to live a full life, not just a productive one.” That resonates with me so profoundly because, for so long, I lived and was wistfully content with just a productive life. The Bible says that God wants us to have a more abundant life (John 10:10). As one who believes in God, I am doing a disservice by not choosing to live an abundant life.
My call to serve as a life coach is to help those ready to live a more abundant life, connect them to that purpose, and embrace the power within. I am most excited to coach black, indigenous, and people of color who are ready to claim or reclaim, their true sense of belonging and fulfillment in their workplace.
What is coaching
The International Coaching Federation (ICF) defines coaching as partnering with clients in a thought-provoking and creative process that inspires them to maximize their personal and professional potential. Coaches honor the client as the expert in his or her life and work and believe every client is creative and resourceful.
The role of a coach
The coach's responsibility is to:
Discover, clarify, and align with what the client wants to achieve.
Encourage client self-discovery.
Elicit client-generated solutions and strategies.
Hold the client responsible and accountable.
This process helps clients dramatically improve their outlook on work and life while developing leadership skills and unlocking potential.
I believe a good coach will always ask more of you than you will ask of yourself. Otherwise, why in the heck do you need on?

My coaching style
It was after meeting a dear friend Deepa Iyer, strategist and curator of the Transformation Solidarity Framework that I continue to craft a richer language that speaks to the evolving roles I play in the different ecosystems I am interconnected within. I am a life coach. A life coach As a life coach, I flow between visionary, builder, caregiver, weaver, and guide. The flow is authentic, agile, and necessary. The flow of our coaching practice - yes, "our," is driven by you--my clients, your life needs, where you are along your journey, and most importantly where you want to go. Before signing up for coaching, I highly recommend that you schedule a discovery call to inquire more and ask any questions to understand if this practice is best for both you and me, especially at this present time.
Ensure the coach has demonstrated success in the areas of importance to you.

How long does coaching last?
Change does not happen overnight. It can be a slow-winding, tedious, forward-and-back process. There are often conscious and unconscious components of one's life that will need to be addressed. We need to allow time for that to surface. Through various small introspective assignments, we will identify some essential goals and prioritize them within the context of your current life and the life you want. A great coaching experience should be a minimum of three months, with an average of around six months for clients who aspire to maximize their likelihood of success.
